A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
Amy Zwilling (pronouns: she/her) is an experienced licensed professional counselor who works with individuals of all ages, couples, and families. Her specialty interests include communication and conflict resolution, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, and coping skills.
Amy completed her advanced education at Cleveland State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counselor education. In addition to being a licensed professional counselor, Amy is also a licensed school counselor. She has a heart for teaching, having begun her undergraduate college experience as an elementary education major.
Prior to private practice, Amy has worked independently as a mental health coach, as a therapist for a community mental health agency, as co-facilitator of a teen-aged girls’ residential treatment group, and as a support group facilitator for children who have family members battling cancer. She is currently specializing in equine assisted therapy, with the hopes of helping clients experience emotional healing and growth through meaningful interactions with horses.
Amy believes strongly that all areas of the arts can serve as therapeutic tools, and she will happily incorporate creative arts into therapy (such as music and writing) for clients of all ages. Her approach to therapy is client-centered and trauma-focused, with a unique consideration of a client’s personality and treatment goals. In addition to creativity, she uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
Her strengths include: kindness, empathy, insight, curiosity, and creativity.
