A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
Aubrey Dempsey (pronouns: she/her) is a licensed professional counselor who works with adolescents, young adults, adults, and couples. Her specialty interests include depression, anxiety, coping skills, self-harm, suicidal ideation, girls and women’s issues, trauma, panic attacks, burnout, and relationship concerns.
Aubrey completed her bachelor’s degree at Ohio University in communications with a minor in journalism. She completed her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Malone University. Aubrey utilizes various therapy techniques and theories that are rooted in feminist theory, cognitive behavioral theory (CBT), person centered theory, and existential theory.
Prior to interning at Wellness Grove, Aubrey was a legal assistant at a law firm for over three years in downtown Canton. Before, Aubrey was a legal assistant in the Cleveland area.
Born and raised in North Canton, Aubrey has worked with diverse populations in her professional roles and strives to better her hometown. She recently obtained the preliminary certificate to become a certified alcohol and drug counselor and joined the counselor honors fraternity (Chi Sigma Iota, Mu Alpha Omega chapter) affiliated with her counseling program.
Aubrey feels strongly about creating a safe, warm, and inviting environment for clients to process and speak about their trauma or background stories. She is an advocate for all stories to be told and heard. Aubrey believes in creating a better mind set and figuring out healthy, possible coping skills for clients to achieve day in and day out.
Aubrey’s strengths include: empathy, external listening skills, and the ability to care and make someone feel heard/understood.
