A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
Cianna Dorando (pronouns: she/they) is an experienced licensed professional counselor who works with teenagers, adults, and couples. Her specialty interests include: gender and sexuality issues, trauma-informed care, recovery from substance use issues, personality disorders, anxiety, and depression. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based, affirming, and uniquely tailored to each client.
Cianna completed her undergraduate and graduate degree at Walsh University. She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Human Development in 2020 where she took specialized course work in eating disorders and trauma. She is currently working toward her independent licensure and aspires to be a clinical supervisor.
Prior to private practice, Cianna worked in a community mental health and substance use treatment facility for the past two years. She has strong experience with diagnostic assessments, crisis intervention, and working as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. She is passionate about working with those in the LGBTQIA+ community and helping individuals process and heal from trauma.
Beyond her clinical work, Cianna serves as a chair on the Stark Pride committee. In this leadership role, she contributes to the committee’s efforts related to supporting individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community, spreading awareness about LGBTQIA+ issues and wellness, and hosting an annual pride festival to celebrate those within the community.
Cianna’s approach to counseling is collaborative and person-centered. She creates a non-judgmental environment that allows her clients to feel safe and work toward their authentic self. Cianna often utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivation interviewing (MI) to help clients create and address their goals in counseling.
Her strengths include: empathy, love of learning, empowerment, and open-mindedness.
