A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.
LaTaisha Anderson (pronouns: she/her) is a counselor trainee who works with adults and couples. Her specialty interests include working with persons who have experienced marginalization and oppression, PTSD and relational traumas, anxiety, depression, psychological distress, and the psychological effects of systemic racism and discrimination. She utilizes spirituality as a means of insight and healing along with treatment approaches that are evidence-based and tailored to the individual client.
LaTaisha Anderson is currently enrolled in a dual master’s degree program in mental health and school counseling at Walden University. She completed her undergraduate education at Southern New Hampshire University earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology. LaTaisha has completed specialized graduate coursework in couples counseling, substance use issues, and social justice and advocacy.
She is a student of life, demonstrating her commitment that the learning journey does not end with a degree but rather begins.
LaTaisha’s approach to counseling is humanistic and holistic because she believes that there is metaphysical knowledge of existential problems that science or psychology cannot answer. Overall health is the goal that LaTaisha has set for herself as well as her clients. She utilizes methods rooted in safety and research support such as expressive arts, dance, music, and meditation to promote client wellness.
Her strengths include: active listening, unconditional positive regard, genuineness, empathy, respect, and honesty.
