A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.
Meredith Undercoffer (pronouns: she/her) is a clinician-in-training who works with adolescents, adults, and couples. Her specialty interests include: addiction, trauma, eating disorders, LBGTQIA+ issues, psychosis, mindfulness, and empowerment. Meredith’s approach to counseling is eclectic, with emphasis on emotion-focused processing and mindfulness.
Meredith earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from The University of Akron. She is continuing her studies at her alma mater to earn a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. Meredith continually strives to be up-to-date on empirically based counseling practices.
Prior to Wellness Grove, Meredith completed her practicum experience at the Center for Individual and Family Counseling at The University of Akron. She has experience working with clients from many different walks of life and enjoys being part of clients’ healing journeys.
Meredith believes in helping clients develop their own clinical toolbox that includes coping skills for life satisfaction and resiliency. Her clinical practices are rooted in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and other mindfulness-based approaches. Meredith specifically excels with guided meditations and relaxation techniques.
Her strengths include: empathy, compassion, unconditional positive regard for clients, authenticity, and warmth.
