A counselor trainee (CT) is graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.
Sarah Morris (pronouns: she/her) is a clinical intern with CT status that works with adolescents, adults, and couples. She is studying to become a licensed professional counselor. Her specialty interests include depression, anxiety, coping skills, self-harm, suicidal ideation, religious guilt/trauma, panic attacks, burnout, and relationship concerns.
Sarah completed her bachelor’s degree at Malone University in business administration with a minor in psychology in 2012. Currently, she is completing her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Malone. Sarah uses various therapy skills and techniques that are rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and internal family systems (IFS). She uses a person-centered approach, adjusting skills to create an individual experience tailored to the best interest of each client.
Prior to joining Wellness Grove, Sarah has worked in the mental health field as an administrative assistant for three years. In this role, she has worked alongside therapists with a variety of specialties and has helped to serve clients with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Sarah is passionate about creating a safe, caring, judgment-free environment for clients to share their stories, process their traumas, and learn coping skills/ self-care techniques to enrich their lives. She integrates compassion with creativity into her approach and encourages self-exploration and self-awareness as a way to promote healing and growth.
Her strengths include: empathy; a passion for learning; and the belief that everyone has the power to love, learn, and grow in their own personal journey to become the version of themselves they desire to be.
