Benjamin Mickey is a visionary leader and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor (LPCC-S) who has grown from his roots in direct client care to become a transformative mentor for the next generation of mental health professionals. Drawing on years of experience in college counseling centers, community mental health, crisis intervention, detox treatment facilities, and private practice, Ben has honed a holistic, person-centered approach that now informs his dynamic leadership style.
In his role as Clinical Internship Manager, Ben leverages both his clinical expertise and his supervisory experience to cultivate an enriching environment where interns can thrive. He believes that sharing knowledge, modeling best practices, and promoting a culture of curiosity and empathy empower emerging clinicians to transform themselves and the communities they serve. Rather than providing one-size-fits-all solutions, he encourages self-reflection, independent problem-solving, and critical thinking to build genuine clinical confidence.
A Kent State University graduate with a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Ben credits his diverse career path with shaping his commitment to innovation, adaptability, and mentorship. He has led numerous clinicians through crisis management, group facilitation, and individual supervision, ultimately guiding them toward professional excellence.
Now, as he heads the internship program, Ben’s vision is to align organizational goals with the personal and professional aspirations of each intern, ensuring they receive the tools, support, and inspiration needed to provide compassionate, evidence-based care. His goal is to shape the future of mental health by nurturing competent, empathetic clinicians who are fully equipped to make a meaningful impact in the field. Through structured supervision, innovative program development, and a deep commitment to professional excellence, Ben continues to build a legacy of resilience, collaboration, and transformative care—a legacy that reaches far beyond the walls of the internship program.
“The delivery of mental health and wellness services should be based on the needs of clients and the community.”
