The Expressive Therapies Specialist supports the development and implementation of art and expressive therapy activities across clinical services. This role collaborates with clinicians to identify needs and coordinate the utilization of clinical materials that promote best practices related to expressive therapy modalities. Through clinical and administrative support, the specialist helps enhance the delivery of creative and experiential therapeutic services.
Nicole Flower (pronouns: she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Provisional Art Therapist (ATR-P) who serves as the organization’s Expressive Therapies Specialist. Nicole completed her bachelor’s degree at Wittenberg University in sociology and urban studies. Prior to being a counselor, she worked with college students in spiritual development, worked in her neighborhood with people at the margins of society, and stayed at home with her children. She combined her creativity and her passion to see people heal and earned her master’s degree in counseling and art therapy from Ursuline College.
Nicole combines the different life paths she has taken with her unique training of an art therapist to provide care for people of all ages. She aims to create a safe space to explore, be accepted and to heal. Nicole has taken specialized training in developmental trauma, TF-CBT (Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and in various ways to use creativity in the counseling process. Her areas of focus include self-compassion, trauma, parenting, and healthy relationships.
Nicole believes in the power of creativity and expressive therapies to bring about change and healing. She loves to put resources, art materials, and creative ideas in people’s hands to use in counseling.
