A Wellness Grove Graduate Intern plays a vital role in supporting a streamlined, client-centered mental health experience by engaging in clinical operations, research, and community initiatives. This role provides hands-on exposure to key areas of care delivery, outreach, and psychoeducation.

Rachael Massi (pronouns: she/her) is particularly interested in the intersection of mental health and social advocacy, with a focus on eating disorder recovery, community support, and person-centered approaches to wellness.

Rachael earned her bachelor of arts in psychology from Kent State University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at The University of Akron, with an anticipated graduation date of 2028. She approaches her training with a commitment to evidence-based practices while recognizing the value of creative and individualized approaches that honor each person’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals.

Her professional and volunteer experiences span healthcare, community service, and advocacy settings. From supporting patients and families in pediatric healthcare environments to facilitating therapeutic arts programming for older adults, Rachael has developed a deep appreciation for the role of meaningful connection and creative expression in promoting well-being. Her work with individuals in eating disorder recovery, vulnerable families, and youth populations has further strengthened her commitment to expanding access to quality mental health support and fostering inclusive, supportive communities.

Rachael brings a collaborative, empathetic, and nonjudgmental approach to her work. Guided by curiosity, cultural humility, and a dedication to equity, she strives to create environments where individuals feel respected, valued, and empowered. Her strengths include advocacy, peer support, creative program facilitation, and a strong commitment to community-centered care.

“The delivery of mental health and wellness services should be based on the needs of clients and the community.”
