A Wellness Grove intern plays a vital role in supporting a streamlined, client-centered mental health experience by engaging in clinical operations, research, and community initiatives. This role provides hands-on exposure to key areas of care delivery, outreach, and psychoeducation.

Taylor Murphy is a non-clinical intern whose interests include eating disorders, anxiety, depression, body image, bullying, and appearance-related concerns. Taylor is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in sociology from Baldwin Wallace University, with an expected graduation date of May 2027. She plans to pursue a PhD in counseling or clinical psychology, with aspirations to continue conducting research and working with individuals experiencing mental health and body image concerns.

Non-clinical interns at Wellness Grove gain hands-on professional development experience through weekly group supervision meetings where they discuss cases, treatment approaches, and best practices with experienced clinicians.

Non-clinical interns have opportunities to interview clinicians in their areas of interest, contribute to evidence-based research and CEU content development, and explore specialized topics for publication.

Additional experiences include assisting with psychoeducational group therapy, attending community engagement and strategic partnership events, and learning clinical case conceptualization skills.

Beyond her internship, Taylor serves as a Student Research Coordinator, Research Team Lead, and Principal Investigator on an independent study examining the relationship between appearance-related teasing and depressed mood. As a Research Team Lead, she contributed to research examining how racial trauma and gendered racial microaggressions impact eating behaviors among Black women, utilizing mediation and moderation analyses in SPSS. Beyond academics, Taylor is actively involved on campus as Chapter Treasurer of Psi Chi, the National Psychology Honor Society, and a member of Phi Gamma Mu, allowing her to engage with and contribute to the Baldwin Wallace University community.

Her strengths include research, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills as well as organization, attention to detail, critical thinking, empathy, active listening, professionalism, leadership, and initiative.

“The delivery of mental health and wellness services should be based on the needs of clients and the community.”
