CONTACT INFO

A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.

Alicia Lytle (pronouns: she/her) is a counselor trainee who works with children, adolescents, and adults. Her specialty interests include: girls’ and women’s issues, trauma informed care, and child and adolescent issues. She utilizes treatment approaches grounded in empathy, unconditional positive regard, and supportive self-exploration.

Alicia completed her advanced education at The University of Akron, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in forensic psychology. She is currently a master’s student at Walsh University completing a degree in clinical mental health counseling.

Prior to private practice, Alicia has worked with individuals through Job and Family Services. In this setting, she worked with individuals facing a range of challenges, including financial hardship, family stress, and barriers to accessing resources. This experience strengthened her ability to approach clients with empathy, cultural awareness, and a nonjudgmental perspective. She is committed to continued learning and professional development to better serve the diverse needs of her clients.

Beyond her clinical work, Alicia served as an employment specialist who helped individuals find employment. She also interned through The Victim Assistance program where she advocated for individuals in crisis and helped them find adequate resources.

Alicia’s approach to counseling is grounded in empathy, validation, and respect as she believes these are essential for clients to feel truly heard. She strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where individuals can explore their thoughts and experiences openly. She works collaboratively with clients to develop practical tools and problem-solving skills that support greater self-awareness, acceptance, and growth. She aims to help clients shift their perspectives in ways that empower them to better understand themselves and navigate their lives with confidence.

Her strengths include: compassion, active listening, love of learning, and a passion for advocating for those who may feel misunderstood.
