Brandon Goldsmith (pronouns: he/him) is an experienced licensed professional counselor who works with adolescents, adults, groups, and couples. His specialty interests include: trauma, generational trauma, and substance use recovery. He utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and integrated uniquely for each client.
Brandon completed his formal education at Malone University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. He also earned licensure in chemical dependency counseling and is working towards becoming certified in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. He has a strong desire to further his education to add to his growing therapeutic skills.
Prior to working for Wellness Grove, Brandon worked with diverse populations in a community mental health setting.
Over his three years of clinical experience, he was able to work many roles such as being a provider on multidisciplinary teams, facilitating substance abuse and mental health groups, and counseling a wide variety of individuals who were experiencing a broad range of identified concerns. During that time, he took specialized coursework in substance use counseling.
Brandon’s approach to counseling is relational and trauma-focused because he believes that a person’s past experiences shape the people that we become in the present. He values rapport-building and creating a strong emotional connection within the therapeutic relationship. He is known for using psychoeducation, challenging cognitive distortions, and EMDR therapy.
His strengths include: kindness, creativity, love of learning, and the ability to connect with others.
