A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
Devin Renspie (pronouns: they/them) is a licensed professional counselor who works with adolescents and adults. Their specialty interests include LGBTQ+ issues, gender identity, and neurodivergence. They utilize an integrative treatment approach, drawing from various theories and evidence-based practices tailored to each client’s needs and presentation.
Devin completed their master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at The University of Akron. They received a bachelor’s degree in creative and entertainment industry studies with a minor in psychology from Belmont University.
Prior to private practice, Devin completed a semester-long practicum at The University of Akron’s Clinic for Individual and Family Counseling. During this experience they gained proficiency serving both adolescents and adults dealing with concerns such as stress, executive dysfunction, depression, anxiety, acculturation, divorce, and anger.
These experiences fueled Devin’s passion to continue working with these populations in a clinical setting.
Devin’s approach to counseling strives to foster a therapeutic relationship based on mutual respect and curiosity. They largely adhere to social constructionism and postmodern therapies, such as collaborative, narrative, and feminist, at the same time borrowing practices from cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies. Devin prioritizes understanding clients’ perspectives and highlighting individual strengths and is known to incorporate humor into sessions.
