A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.


Gabriel Mulé (pronouns: he/they) is a counselor trainee (CT) who works with young adults and adults. His specialty interests include: LGBTQ+ issues, academic concerns, self-esteem concerns, depression, anxiety, and utilizing mindfulness practices and coping skills to aid in holistic healing. He utilizes treatment approaches that are both cognitive and mindfulness-based to mitigate client distress and assist with grounding clients to the here and now.

Gabriel completed his advanced education at Kent State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in music. He is currently a master’s student at his alma mater completing a degree in clinical mental health counseling. His specialized coursework in music promotes in his inspiration to the healing, connective, and cathartic power of music. He found joy and expansion in learning about different cultures through his multicultural counseling course.

Prior to private practice, Gabriel worked at Kent State’s Counseling Center serving students and community members from with various presenting problems in individual counseling, including: LGBTQ+ issues, anxiety, attention/concentration issues, stress, time management, depression, coping skills, mood dysregulation, academic stress, sleep concerns, and relationship issues.

Gabriel’s approach to counseling centers on building rapport with his clients through a person-centered perspective. He focuses on helping clients to explore their deeper selves through exploration of feelings, thoughts, and somatic sensations. Gabriel aims to build awareness and assist clients in grounding themselves through mindfulness exercises such as meditation, body scans, and breathing exercises. Among the many aspects incorporated into counseling sessions are psychoeducation, affirmations, validation, curiosity, humor, and reflection. He aims to work together with clients to nurture healing, growth, and insight.

His strengths include: his intuition, calm nature, his empathy, and his belief in inward healing and inward growth.
