A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.
Hannah Hostetler (pronouns: she/her) is a counselor trainee who works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her specialty interests include: girls’ and women’s issues, gerontology, religion/spirituality, trauma, anxiety and depression management, and grief and loss. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.
Hannah completed her advanced education at Morehead State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience. She is currently a master’s student at Walsh University, earning a degree in clinical mental health counseling. Her background in neuroscience strengthens her ability to help clients understand how the brain functions and how the brain influences thinking.
Prior to private practice, Hannah ran cross country and track at the collegiate level. She also coached middle school students for a local Christian school. These experiences strengthened her resilience and excitement to help others grow and succeed in their passions while maintaining their overall health and well-being.
Hannah’s approach to counseling is relational and strength-based. She believes that safe and supportive environments can allow clients to work towards goals. She draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), believing that thoughts can influence one’s behaviors. Hannah uses humor and psychoeducation to create a nonjudgmental atmosphere in the therapy room.
Her strengths include: empathy, kindness, humor, and collaboration.
