A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.
Jacob Baughman (pronouns: he/him) is a counselor trainee who works with children, adolescents, and adults. His specialty interests include: anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma. He utilizes a person-centered, collaborative, and solution-focused approach that integrates evidenced-based techniques while respecting each client's strengths, experiences, goals, and values.
Jacob completed his advanced education at The Ohio State University, earning a bachelor's degree in psychology. He is currently a master's student at Baldwin Wallace University completing a degree in clinical mental health counseling.
Jacob's approach to counseling is collaborative, person-centered, and solution focused. He believes that personal growth and development occurs when clients feel heard, seen, respected, and valued. Jacob emphasizes exploring client strengths, experiences, and values to meet their goals. Jacob uses warmth, calmness, and collaboration to help clients better understand themselves through their personal lens. Jacob strives to create a counseling environment that is nonjudgemental, responsive, and understanding of each client's needs and experiences.
