A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
Joshua Prince (pronouns: he/him) is an experienced licensed professional counselor who works with adolescents and adults. His specialty interests include: spirituality and religiosity, boys’ and men’s issues, and integrating creativity into counseling practice. He utilizes dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) as his main treatment modality.
Joshua completed his advanced education at Kent State University, Walsh University, and Regent University earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in counseling and human development, and a doctoral master’s degree in pastoral counseling (respectively). He has a strong love of lifetime learning and self-improvement.
Prior to private practice, Joshua worked with diverse clients in community mental health settings. He has significant experience working with children, adolescents, and adults on a variety of crisis-related issues to include non-suicidal self-harm, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, and psychosis.
Beyond his clinical work, Joshua enjoys creating art and music. He is a former board member of a local art gallery and frequently works to create various forms of expressive art using an assortment of mediums. Joshua is also adept at the piano and has dabbled in the violin.
Joshua’s primary approach to counseling is DBT. He believes that personal growth is the result of implementing techniques derived from distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. In addition to being a non-judgmental, compassionate listener he is an empathetic problem-solver. He is known for using humor, art, spirituality, and creativity in his work.
His strengths include: creativity, love of learning, emotional intelligence, and the ability to strive for wellness as a whole.
