A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.

A National Certified Counselor (NCC) shows that national standards have been met for a specialty certification as a certified clinical mental health counselor, including additional education, experience requirements, and a specialty examination.

Kayla Facey (she/her) is an experienced licensed professional counselor who works with adults. Her specialty areas include: women’s issues, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and challenges with emotional regulation. She uses evidence-based treatment approaches that are tailored to meet each client’s individual needs.

Kayla completed her bachelor’s in psychology, with a minor in child development, at Florida State University. She also earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Liberty University. Kayla has received training in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and continues to pursue ongoing education to utilize up-to-date, evidence-based interventions and modalities.

Kayla has had the privilege of working in various private practice settings throughout her clinical career. She has experience working with clients across a range of ages and life stages, including children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. Kayla has facilitated psychoeducational groups as well as provided individual therapy sessions. She believes in collaboration and building community support, and has worked alongside schools, workplaces, physicians, teachers, and school counselors to provide holistic care.

Kayla’s approach to counseling is person-centered, while also incorporating a holistic and eclectic framework. She integrates various interventions and modalities as needed to best support each client. She believes in meeting clients where they are and views them as the expert on their own lived experience. Kayla is committed to empowering clients to live authentically by partnering with them to identify their values, set healthy boundaries, build psychological flexibility, and increase distress tolerance. She also supports clients in recognizing and challenging negative thought patterns, developing effective coping skills, and engaging in mindfulness practices to enhance self-awareness and overall well-being.

Her strengths include: deep empathy; compassion; authenticity; maintaining a nonjudgmental therapeutic space; building genuine therapeutic relationships; and supporting clients in feeling seen, heard, and empowered.
