A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.

Dr. LaTrice D. Snodgrass (pronouns: she/her) is a counselor trainee who works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her specialty interests include: anxiety, depression, panic attacks, adjustment and life transitions, relationship issues, grief and loss, LGBTQ+ issues, spirituality, trauma, and wellness. Her clinical approach is grounded in person-centered care and culturally responsive practices that are evidence-based.

Dr. Snodgrass completed her advanced education at Troy University, earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in science management with a concentration in healthcare management. She attended the University of Pheonix and earned a Doctor of Healthcare Administration. She is currently a master’s student at Capella University completing a degree in clinical mental health counseling. Her academic preparation includes coursework in family and couples counseling, group counseling, assessment in counseling, trauma and crisis intervention, and multicultural counseling. This foundation reflects a strong integration of systems in line with clinical practice and supports her ongoing commitment to lifelong learning and ethical care.

Prior to private practice, Dr. Snodgrass brings extensive experience working with diverse populations across healthcare and community-based settings. She is a certified Grief Recovery Method specialist and has supported individuals navigating complex loss experiences. Much of her work has centered around individuals impacted by systemic barriers to care. These experiences continue to inform her counseling perspective and shape how she engages with clients.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Snodgrass is a published author, delivered a TEDx talk, and leads a consulting firm focused on health equity. She integrates her lived experience, advocacy, and deep commitment to equity into her professional work. She approaches counseling with an awareness of systemic barriers as well as the real-life challenges clients often carry outside of sessions. Her background includes leading and supporting initiatives that advance equitable care and culturally responsive practices. She also provided coaching and community education in these areas. In addition, she serves as part-time faculty at Capella University in the healthcare program and contributes to several nonprofit boards which her ongoing dedication to equity and community impact. These experiences continue to shape her mission to move care beyond transactional encounters toward meaningful and transformative engagement.

Dr. Snodgrass’s approach to counseling can be viewed through a person-centered and relational lens, grounded in authenticity, trust, compassion, and mutual respect. She creates space for clients to feel seen and heard. Sessions move at a pace that feels supportive, not overwhelming. Her work reflects an awareness of systemic influences while remaining focused on individual experience. Spiritual integration is available when it aligns with the client’s preferences, and she works collaboratively with clients to build skills that support emotional regulation, shift unhelpful patterns, and move toward meaningful self-defined goals. She draws from narrative therapy, mindfulness practices, cognitive behavioral therapy, and multicultural counseling to support insight and meaningful change.

Her strengths include: empathy, cultural awareness, resilience, and the ability to connect with individuals across diverse life experiences.
