A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.

Michael Luthy (pronouns: he/him) is an experienced licensed professional counselor who works with individual adults and couples. He specializes in mood disorders, phase-of-life transitions, ADHD, psychoeducation, and empowering clients to find their purpose. He uses a synergic approach to treatment, pulling therapeutic responses and resources from a wide range of evidence-based methods to cultivate a unique process for each client.

Mike completed his advanced education at Walsh University, earning a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. He has advanced training in trauma counseling. Additionally, he holds certifications in providing telemental health counseling as well as therapeutic game mastery. The latter approach utilizes teachings and techniques from narrative therapy, as well as acceptance and commitment therapy, through a lens of table top role playing games as a modem for therapeutic healing.

Prior to private practice, Mike worked with diverse clients in the community mental health setting. Over the past five years, he has had many unique opportunities – from supporting students with autism in the Monarch School to empowering adults with developmental disabilities by teaching them life skills. These experiences have contributed to his passion for education and using a growth-oriented approach when working alongside with clients.

Mike’s approach to counseling is both cooperative and developmental, with an emphasis on meeting each client exactly where they are at in their wellness journey. This approach often calls for balance: offering clients skills and tools they can use in the moment to alleviate distressing symptoms, while strengthening a foundation of trust and inner strength to delve deep into the addressing unresolved issues within the self. He believes every person’s therapeutic journey is uniquely their own, and tapping into one’s truest self fuels long-lasting growth. Thus, his role is to walk beside each client, supporting that journey.

In addition to being a compassionate listener and educator, Mike is creative in his collaboration. He is known for using contemporary media, stories, metaphors, and philosophy to connect with clients, drawing out person-centered solutions, and inspiring revelation in sessions.

His strengths include: non-judgement, a growth mindset, creativity, and passion for helping people become their best selves.
