A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.

A Provisional Registered Art Therapist (ATR-Provisional) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s degree in art therapy, has met qualifying graduate-level education and training outlined by the Art Therapy Credential Board (ATCB), and is practicing under an approved ATCB credentialed supervisor to provide quality therapy and healing using media and the creative process.

Nicole Flower (pronouns: she/her) is a licensed professional counselor and provisional registered art therapist who works with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She is studying to become a licensed art therapist. Her specialty interests include: identity and self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Nicole utilizes various therapy techniques that are rooted in client centered theory, cognitive behavioral theory, systems theory, and creativity and mindfulness. Above all, she wants people to know their dignity and worth.

Nicole completed her master’s degree in counseling and art therapy at Ursuline College. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Wittenberg University in sociology with a minor in urban studies. During her training, Nicole has taken specialized coursework in treating trauma and utilizing art therapy techniques across the expressive therapies continuum.

In her first career, Nicole worked for 9 years as a campus minister providing spiritual direction to college students and doing social justice and advocacy work alongside them. She also directed a community gathering and food pantry for 8 years in her neighborhood.

Nicole has had many opportunities to travel internationally, gain a global perspective, and learn from people from other cultures. Her most recent service trip was to the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in North Dakota where she participated in the Red Can Graffiti Jam (a community collective art project) by providing art activities for kids. Clinically, she has completed an internship at a school for unique children with learning differences and behavioral problems.

Nicole’s relational approach to counseling is deeply rooted in her passion for providing a safe place for clients to feel heard and connect in meaningful ways. She offers creative and mindfulness experiences for clients to express and understand themselves. Her approach is also client-centered and strength-based because she believes her role is to empower clients to find solutions that work for them.

Her strengths include: kindness, compassion, unconditional acceptance, seeing the best in people, creativity, and a genuine desire for all people to be included.
