A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
A National Certified Counselor (NCC) shows that national standards have been met for a specialty certification as a certified clinical mental health counselor, including additional education, experience requirements, and a specialty examination.
With a dedication to depth, authenticity, and the human search for meaning, Prescilla Dorsey (pronouns: she/her) brings her expertise as a licensed professional counselor to clients from all walks of life. She specializes in supporting veterans, adults, first responders, the elderly, and children, employing an integrative approach to help each person find purpose and connect more deeply with themselves.
Prescilla earned her master’s degree in counseling from George Fox University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern New Hampshire University. During her graduate studies, she completed specialized coursework in play therapy to provide developmentally appropriate support for young children. She is a lifelong learner who prioritizes deep comprehension and big-picture synthesis in her professional development.
Prior to joining Wellness Grove, Prescilla worked with diverse clients in community mental health settings, including those with complex presentations such as borderline personality and bipolar disorders. Drawing on her background as a military veteran, she offers steady support and compassionate care for individuals navigating major life transitions. She is currently deepening her expertise through specialized training in trauma-informed care and psychodynamic foundations to better serve veterans, first responders, and adults throughout the lifespan, as well as BIPOC communities.
Beyond her clinical work, Prescilla serves in a vital capacity within higher education, where she has completed extensive training and field experience in academic support systems and student development. Her background as a veteran informs her professional perspective, allowing her to serve as a bridge between structured institutional environments and deeply personal healing spaces. These roles fulfill her calling to support those in transition and to inspire resilience across the lifespan.
Prescilla’s approach to counseling is relational, psychodynamic, and existential because she believes that personal growth stems from understanding our past while finding the courage to be truly seen in the present. In addition to being a compassionate and non-judgmental listener, she is a collaborative partner who helps clients explore their internal worlds and align their actions with their core values. She is known for incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) metaphors, therapeutic education, and a grounded, transparent presence into her sessions.
Her strengths include a passion for learning, curiosity, a growth-oriented mindset, and transparency.
