A licensed marriage and family therapist (MFT) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care under supervision.

Rebecca Denney (pronouns: she/her) is a licensed marriage and family therapist who works with couples and families. Her specialty interests include: couples and families that feel disconnected and struggle with communication. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidenced based and uniquely tailored to each client.

Rebecca completed her advanced education at The University of Akron, earning a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in marriage and family therapy. Her passion for relationships and human connection inspires her to continually pursue deeper knowledge and understanding.

Prior to private practice, Rebecca worked in community mental health, where she gained experience serving children, adolescents, couples, and families. During this time, she facilitated behavioral group therapy for children ages 6–17, provided therapy to couples, and provided intensive home-based therapy to families. Across each role and setting, she has found the most meaningful part of her work to be the trusting relationships she builds with her clients and the opportunity to witness and support their growth and healing.

Rebecca's approach to counseling is relational, emotion-focused, and attachment-based. She believes that healing and growth occur through safe emotional connection, increased understanding of attachment needs, and the development of healthier communication patterns. In her practice, she works collaboratively with clients to strengthen emotional bonds, improve conflict management, and foster deeper empathy and mutual understanding in relationships. Rebecca also incorporates structured interventions, practical skills, and experiential exercises to help couples create lasting change and connection. She is known for her authenticity, non-judgmental mindset, humor, and optimism.

Her strengths include: identifying relational patterns, blending warmth with directness, and guiding clients toward increased emotional awareness.
