Working Hours

A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.

Samuel Delvalle (pronouns: he/him) is a counselor trainee (CT) who works with adults. His specialty interests include: trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and self-esteem challenges. He utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and thoughtfully tailored to each client's individual needs.

Samuel completed his advanced education at Franklin University, earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration. He is currently a master’s student at Springfield College completing a degree in clinical mental health counseling.

Prior to private practice, he served for 17 years as a first responder in Massachusetts focused on mental health and crisis-related incidents. He brings this background, along with a commitment to ongoing learning, into his clinical training.

Beyond his clinical training, Samuel serves as an adjunct professor at Springfield College and teaches courses within the humanities, social sciences, and criminal justice department. He also instructs first responders through the Massachusetts Police Training Committee and leads curriculum on wellness and hate crimes. Relatedly, Samuel serves as a community crisis intervention professional and has gained extensive hands-on experience with crisis intervention, trauma stabilization, and de-escalation, and a deep appreciation for meeting people where they are. He remains committed to ongoing professional development. These roles reflect Samuel’s commitment to education, prevention, and supporting the mental health of those who serve on the front lines

Samuel's approach to counseling is trauma-informed and grounded in safety, trust, and meeting each client without judgment. Drawing on years of frontline crisis experience, he understands that healing happens at the client's own pace and he works to create a steady, non-judgmental space where people feel secure enough to begin the process. He favors evidence-based, practical strategies and helps clients build concrete coping skills, regulation skills, and discovery of their own strengths and resilience. Above all, he believes in walking alongside his clients as a collaborative partner rather than directing from above.

His strengths include: composure under pressure, compassion, social intelligence, and the ability to stay grounded and present when others are in crisis.
