A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.


Seth Duncan (pronouns: he/him) is a counselor trainee who works with adults of all ages, as well as couples. His specialty interests include: anxiety, depression, executive functioning, issues related to body image, and relationship concerns. Seth’s approach is rooted in creating a supportive, solution-focused environment where clients can explore personal growth, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.

Seth earned his bachelor’s degree in creative writing and screenwriting from Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), where he developed professional-level screenplays and honed his ability to construct narratives that explore deep human experiences. This background strengthens his ability to help clients reframe their personal stories, develop new perspectives, and approach challenges with creativity and insight. He is currently completing his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling through SNHU’s accredited program while gaining hands-on experience as a counselor trainee in a supervised clinical setting.

Prior to Wellness Grove, Seth worked extensively with individuals in one-on-one professional settings, developing meaningful connections and guiding them toward personal growth. As a nationally certified personal trainer and fitness nutrition specialist, he spent six years operating his own private gym, helping diverse individuals achieve their wellness goals. Seth has also worked in global business and marketing, engaging with professionals worldwide to build trust and navigate high-stakes negotiations. These roles gave him invaluable experience in developing strong interpersonal connections, helping people feel at ease, and guiding individuals through transformative personal and professional growth.

Beyond his clinical work, Seth is passionate about lifelong learning, holistic wellness, and the science behind human health and relationships, continuously seeking new knowledge to better serve his clients. He actively studies the connections between exercise, nutrition, and mental well-being, applying these principles in both his personal life and professional work. Seth is also deeply invested in economic psychology, financial literacy as it relates to stress and mental health, and the evolving science of sexuality, intimacy, and communication. He believes that knowledge is true power, and he continuously seeks out new ways to expand his understanding and apply it meaningfully to help others.

Seth’s counseling approach integrates rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) and person-centered therapy, combining structured, goal-oriented techniques with a warm, empathetic space for self-exploration. He helps clients recognize and challenge unhelpful thought patterns while encouraging self-awareness and emotional growth. Seth’s approach emphasizes personal strengths, collaboration, and fostering a sense of empowerment. Sessions often include psychoeducation, guided self-reflection, and practical strategies for change tailored to each individual’s needs.

His strengths include: optimism, creativity, and guiding clients toward meaningful personal growth and goal-oriented change.
