A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
Shannon (pronouns: she/her) is an experienced licensed professional counselor who works with children, adolescents, and adults. Her specialty interests include: the utilization of art and creativity to facilitate healing, girls’ and women’s issues, gerontology, building self-esteem, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, grief and loss, and integrating positive psychology into counseling practice. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.
Shannon completed her advanced education at The University of Findlay, earning a bachelor’s degree in art therapy. She then attended Ursuline College, earning a master’s degree in counseling and art therapy. She has a strong love of lifetime learning and growing. Shannon continuously seeks ways to integrate continued education into her clinical practice to ensure that she provides supportive and empowering care.
Prior to private practice, Shannon has worked with diverse clients for over 25 years. She has had many opportunities to work across a variety of settings such as community behavioral health, independent living, residential, domestic violence shelters, and home-based. These experiences have helped to shape her clinical approach.
Shannon’s approach to counseling is focused on guiding clients along the path to wellness and self-empowerment. She utilizes methods that are eclectic, strengths based, non-judgmental, and person centered. Shannon believes that healing and growth are rooted in collaboration, mutual respect, being understood, and feeling safe.
Her strengths include: creativity, compassionate listening, kindness, love of learning, social intelligence, being open-minded, and the ability to see the bigger picture in life.
