A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
William Clark (pronouns: he/him) is an experienced licensed professional counselor who works with adults, adolescents, and families. His specialty areas include: counseling those with disabilities, relationship issues, men's issues, career development, transitional issues, anxiety issues, and LGBTQ+ concerns. He utilizes evidence-based treatment approaches uniquely tailored to each client.
William completed his advanced education at Youngstown State University, earning a bachelor's degree in communication studies and a master's degree in mental health counseling. He is also always searching to expand his education, as he believes it is the key to growing both personally and professionally.
Prior to private practice, William worked with diverse clients in hospitals and with people who have disabilities. His most recent clinical experience was working in a residential addiction hospital where he worked with a diverse group of patients. Prior to earning his counseling degree, William served as the head of outreach and education at his county's Board of Developmental Disabilities for 5 years.
Beyond his clinical work, William serves on the Governor-appointed Ohio Statewide Independent Living Council. He also serves on the Department of Strategic Communication and Media Professional Advisory Board at Youngstown State. Additionally, William serves as a civic advocate and author, supporting positive policy for people with disabilities.
William's clinical approach is all about helping the client empower themselves through introspection, connection, emotional focus, and creative approaches. This reflects his person-centered approach, which he adapts and enhances with other modalities to create a unique approach for each client. All the while, psychoeducation, humor, and metaphors are used to help the client move towards their desired treatment outcome.
His strengths include: empathy, diverse experiences, adaptivity, kindness, social intelligence, and his belief that everyone can have the quality of life they dreamed of.
