INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE

Intimate partner violence (IPV): Any pattern of threatened or experienced abuse/controlling behaviors by a current or former partner.

HOME > Services > Areas of Counseling > Intimate Partner Violence

IPV is common.

IPV can occur numerous times a day and may occur throughout the course of several months. In many instances it is not uncommon for victims to have survived abuse from their partners for many years. Physical, sexual, and psychological abuse are among the three most common types of IPV. In a relationship, there may be more than one type of abuse occurring at the same time.
