A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.

The second “C” (LPC“C”) denotes advanced clinical experience and knowledge as required by the state licensure board that allows for independent practice (meaning, without the need for supervision).

The “S” (LPCC-“S”) denotes advanced experience and knowledge in clinical supervision as required by the state licensure board that allows for supervision of LPCs and counselors-in-training.


Erin Black (pronouns: she/her) is an experienced licensed professional clinical counselor supervisor who works with children, young adults, and families. Her specialty interests include: helping children and young adults navigate adjustments in their lives, trauma-informed care, and integrating creativity and positive psychology into counseling practice. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.

Erin completed her undergraduate studies through Hiram College, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She went on to earn her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. While at Capella, she also earned a graduate certificate in Contemporary Theory in Couple and Family Systems and took specialized coursework in family counseling. Erin has a passion for helping families understand and communicate in a healthy manner.

Prior to private practice, Erin has had experience working with diverse clients in their homes, schools, and other community-based settings. Serving as a professional counselor for over 8 years, Erin has worked with clients who have experienced issues such as autism spectrum disorder, depression, anxiety, and trauma. From her experiences she has learned that it is through clients’ understanding and awareness of their strengths and struggles that they are able to improve and grow. It is her pleasure to help individuals and families through this process.

Erin’s approach to counseling is person-centered and trauma-informed. She believes in creating a safe space grounded in unconditional positive regard and understanding. Central to her approach are the use of empathetic listening and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to help client’s develop healthier thinking patterns about themselves, their relationships, and the world. She is known for using humor, psychoeducation, metaphors, and the creative arts in sessions.

Her strengths include: kindness, social intelligence, humor, and the passion to help others.

Erin Black’s supervision training includes multiple years of supervised supervision from seasoned counseling experts, and ongoing trainings to maintain her designation and grow in her work. Erin spent her formative years working in the community with children with special needs, and their families. She worked in a behavioral school for children with autism and other emotional issues. Through these experiences and experiences in her own community-based internship, Erin is well versed in treating a variety of issues and complexities that are negatively impacting clients. Erin has worked in private practice since 2020, and with Wellness Grove since 2021, serving a wide array of clients. She began her clinical supervision journey in Fall 2025.

Her approach to supervision is using an Integrative Developmental Model to meet supervisees where they are. Erin believes that effective supervision begins with a safe and collaborative relationship between supervisor and supervisee. With this approach, the hope is to empower and support the supervisee to reach their highest potential.
