A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.

The second “C” (LPC“C”) denotes advanced clinical experience and knowledge as required by the state licensure board that allows for independent practice (meaning, without the need for supervision).

The “S” (LPCC-“S”) denotes advanced experience and knowledge in clinical supervision as required by the state licensure board that allows for supervision of LPCs and counselors-in-training.

A Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) is a professional who has earned certification from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board to assist individuals seeking services for addiction.

A certified dialectical behavior therapist (C-DBT) has met all training requirements in order to become specialized in providing advanced treatment and services rooted in this approach that emphasizes managing and regulating intense negative emotions, and is especially helpful for issues such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, trauma, and substance use issues.

Jamie Sevenbergen (pronouns: she/her) is an experienced licensed professional clinical counselor supervisor who works with early adolescents, teenagers, and emerging adults. Her specialty interests include ADHD and executive functioning issues, depression, anxiety, and trauma. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.

Jamie completed her advanced education at Kent State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. She also took specialized coursework in addictions counseling.

Prior to private practice, Jamie worked with diverse clients in their homes and communities as well as in residential, school, and community mental health settings.

Over the last five years, she has had many unique opportunities – from developing and leading a coping skills group for adult men in residential substance use treatment to providing mental health services in a K-12 educational setting – that have contributed to her passion for helping others and her clinical approach. Jamie has received specialized training in sand tray therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy.

Jamie’s approach to counseling is person-centered and trauma-informed. She believes each person is the expert on themselves and will use her knowledge and skills to join her clients where they are at on their journey to reach wellness together. She is known for using humor, psychoeducation, metaphors, and the creative arts in sessions.

Her strengths include empathy, kindness, authenticity, and the willingness to learn and grow.
