A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
Zak Buccitelli (pronouns: he/him) is an experienced licensed professional counselor who works with adults. His specialty interests include: substance use issues and addiction, anxiety disorders, and men’s issues. Zak utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.
Zak earned his bachelor’s degree in 2009 from Malone University. He then attended graduate school at Ashland University and earned his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. During his graduate training, he took specialized coursework in substance abuse and addiction, as well as men’s issues.
Prior to joining Wellness Grove, Zak worked independently as a holistic personal trainer, and was later a clinician at a private practice in Dayton, OH.
Beyond his clinical work, Zak has had a long history of working with those in need. His first experiences in helping-oriented work were during service trips throughout the U.S. at one time in Kenya, Africa where he helped establish a medical center and self-sustaining farm. He has also served as a volunteer mentor for individuals who seek support through the 12-step community.
Zak’s approach to counseling is holistic and relational. He is passionate about exploring what makes a client feel whole, and what constitutes a meaningful life. Zak gravitates to using approaches such as logotherapy (a search for a meaningful life), cognitive behavioral therapy (exploring core beliefs that drive behavior and mental wellness), and various meditation traditions (promoting the mind-body connection).
His strengths include: approachability, openness, non-judgement, and being knowledgeable/proficient in a vast array of fields.
