CHARLIE HARLESS, CT

Charlie Harless (pronouns: she/her) is a counselor trainee who works with children, adolescents, and adults. Her specialty interests include: life transitions, mindfulness, motivation, trauma, and spiritual/faith-oriented care. She implements both person-centered therapy and evidenced-based treatments to empathetically and effectively help grow and uplift her clients.

Charlie completed her advanced education at Kent State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She is currently a master’s student at Malone University completing a degree in clinical mental health counseling. Charlie is involved in the honor society at Kent State University, having made the dean’s list. She is committed to expanding her knowledge beyond the classroom to become thoroughly competent in her practice.

Beyond her clinical work, Charlie has worked with the child population as both a swim instructor and a Sunday school teacher at her church. These experiences helped shape her understanding of child development and the approaches that work best for promoting understanding in children. She currently works as a lifeguard at the YMCA and has training and qualifications in basic life support.

Charlie’s approach to counseling is client-centered with use of cognitive behavioral strategies to help her clients navigate life both internally and externally. She utilizes mindfulness, intentionality, and strives to be authentic. Her work with clients is driven by empathy and compassion in a desire to meet clients right where they are at in life.

Her strengths include: empathy, humor, flexibility, and her ability to see the whole picture.
