A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
Ashley Kaminski (pronouns: she/her) is a licensed professional counselor who works with young adults, adults, and older adults. Her specialty interests include: gender issues, grief and loss, gerontology, neurodiversity, and LGBTQIA+ issues. She utilizes various therapy techniques that are rooted in mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and a person-centered approach.
Ashley earned her bachelor’s degree at Kent State University in psychology. She completed her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, along with her gerontology certification, at Kent State University in May of 2024. She has also had the opportunity to have training in motivational interviewing (MI) and addictions counseling. Ashley is an active member of her counseling program’s chapter (Kappa Sigma Upsilon) of Chi Sigma Iota, the international counseling honor society.
Prior to Wellness Grove, Ashley completed her practicum experience counseling college students at Kent State. During this experience, she has had the opportunity to work with young adults to help identify, examine, and treat issues such as anxiety, depression, gender issues, LGBTQIA+ concerns, neurodiversity, and interpersonal conflict.
Beyond her clinical work, Ashley has worked in a variety of settings, ranging from assisting in activities at a nursing home, teaching preschool classes, and assisting in research related to the mental health and wellness of older adults.
Ashley’s approach to counseling is creating a strong and safe therapeutic relationship based on authenticity and autonomy. She tailors her sessions to be creative and unique by involving a client’s interests and concerns. She believes that every person has the power to change their life, and she empowers clients to take control of their own journey.
Her strengths include: empathy, humor, authenticity, autonomy, collaboration, and client empowerment.
