A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.
Gabrielle Trunzo (pronouns: she/her) is a counselor trainee who works with adults. Her specialty interests include: life transitions, aging and geriatric issues, mindfulness, and meaning and purpose in life. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and specific to the populations that she serves.
Gabrielle received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ursuline College. She is currently enrolled in a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling program at John Carroll University. While enrolled, she has maintained excellent academic standing and has gathered certificates for her academic efforts such as the dean’s and president’s list.
Gabrielle has a love of learning that expands beyond the classroom. Her passion for gaining knowledge leads her to participate in training programs which foster her awareness of various clinical approaches. She dedicates herself to the learning process and shares this passion when exploring clinical issues with clients.
Gabrielle enjoys research in her free time which allows her to understand issues that are multidimensional and speak to the intersectionality of the clients she sees. She seeks to reflect this knowledge in her counseling approach.
Gabrielle’s approach to counseling is person-centered and strengths-based with a focus on acceptance-and-commitment principles. She believes that all clients deserve to be treated with empathy, kindness, and respect. Her counseling approach is central to her values that clients deserve to create their own empowerment and take control over their overall wellness. Gabrielle focuses on a collaborative approach in which client-led sessions will help grow client empowerment and recognize their own personal strengths. Gabrielle seeks to create a warm environment for all clients through her clinical approach.
