SARAH ANTES, LPC

Sarah Antes (pronouns: she/her) is an experienced licensed professional counselor who works with adolescents, adults, and families. Her specialty interests include: women’s issues, addiction, the LGBTQ+ community, trauma, depression, and anxiety. She utilizes practices that are evidence-based and person centered.

Sarah earned her bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in applied communications and her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from The University of Akron. While completing her graduate studies, she took specialized coursework in addiction counseling. Sarah considers herself a lifelong learner.

Prior to private practice, Sarah has worked with diverse clients in community mental health settings and a substance use treatment facility. She has strong experience in assessment, addiction, working with the LGBTQ+ population, and working with court appointed clients who experience substance use issues or are otherwise court involved.

Sarah’s approach to counseling is client centered, as she believes in meeting clients where they are at in terms of change. She believes in empowering clients in taking control of their own lives through Motivational Interviewing (MI) and finding solutions to everyday life stressors. Sarah develops connections with clients that are rooted in safety, compassion, understanding, and mutual respect. Along with being open-minded, nonjudgmental, and an empathetic listener, she works collaboratively with others and is known for using coping skills, humor, psychoeducation, and analogies in sessions.
