A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.
Kaylyn Jones (pronouns: she/her) is a counselor trainee who works with adolescents and adults. Her specialty interests include: life transitions, academic struggles, self-esteem, bullying, mindfulness, and LGBTQIA+ issues. She takes a person-centered and solutions-focused approach to counseling, focusing on building a safe and comfortable environment where clients receive individualized care as well as helping clients explore possible solutions to their current challenges.
Kaylyn earned bachelor’s degrees in communication arts, business management, and marketing from Malone University. She is currently a master’s student at her alma mater completing a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has a passion for walking alongside others in their healing and self-discovery journeys.
In addition to her work at Wellness Grove, Kaylyn serves as an accessibility services coordinator in higher education, supporting students with disabilities.
She has experience working with individuals with a wide range of needs and feels honored to be part of each client’s healing journey.
Kaylyn’s approach to counseling is about creating safe, inclusive spaces where individuals feel comfortable to be exactly who they are. She strives to equip her clients with the tools they need to become the happiest, healthiest versions of themselves. Her clinical practice is rooted in relational, cognitive-behavioral, and other mindfulness-based approaches. She is especially focused on affirming and empowering clients toward self-acceptance and personal growth.
Kaylyn’s strengths include empathy, unconditional positive regard, cultural sensitivity, open-mindedness, and a warm sense of humor.
