LAIHA LANE, CT

Laiha Lane (pronouns: she/her) is a counselor trainee who works with children, adolescents, and adults. Her specialty interests include: recent and past trauma, career development, identity formation, religious trauma, and LGBTQ+ support. Laiha utilizes a treatment approach that is trauma informed and evidence-based to meet each client’s specific and individual needs.

Laiha completed her advanced education at Ball State University, earning a bachelor of science in urban planning. She is currently a master’s student at Kent State University, completing a degree in clinical mental health counseling.

Prior to private practice, Laiha worked at multiple community development organizations in Indiana. She has a strong passion for advocacy and justice, and she believes that finding community and sharing resources is a key to a more fulfilling life.

Laiha has counseled diverse clientele at Kent State University’s Counseling Center, including those with significant trauma, ADHD, depression, and those seeking to improve functioning in their daily life and reach their personal goals.

Laiha’s approach to counseling is collaborative and client centered. Laiha values each client as an individual who has strengths, values, and a deep desire to be known. She believes that when clients feel safe and valued, they can begin to explore the valuable work of healing. Laiha empowers each client to be present to the life they are living. She values a non-judgmental space that offers mutual respect and partnership. She is known to encourage creativity and play.

Her strengths include: a warm personality, a creative and open spirit, empathy, an understanding of complex and nuanced life situations, and a deep sense of hope to guide others into better situations.
