A counselor trainee (CT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional counselor. Counselor Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.
Rachel Ambroziak (pronouns: she/her) is a counselor trainee who works with emerging adults and adults. Her specialty interests include: communication and conflict resolution, LGBTQ+ issues, adjustment and life transitions, mood disorders, anger management, stress, anxiety, wellness, and integrating creative activities into counseling. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.
Rachel completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Cincinnati, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Malone University. Rachel is a member of Chi Sigma Iota, an international honor society that values academic and professional excellence in counseling. She has taken specialized coursework in conflict resolution and multicultural counseling. Rachel is committed to continuously expanding her knowledge through educational experiences and opportunities.
Before joining Wellness Grove, Rachel was a group facilitator for the Bearcats Support Network for four years.
In this role, she led weekly meetings with 8-10 college peers, fostering a supportive space for identity, mental well-being, and daily life. This experience ignited her passion for deep connections with others and cultivated her ability to make people feel understood.
Rachel’s approach to counseling is holistic. She believes in working collaboratively with clients to view them as whole individuals, considering various aspects of their lives, including physical, psychological, social, relational, and environmental well-being. She explores how their past may be impacting their present and uses strength-based techniques alongside cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients understand how their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions affect their lives. Rachel strives to create a space where clients feel comfortable exploring and expressing their emotions. She approaches everyone with unconditional positive regard and is a non-judgmental, patient listener.
