CONTACT INFO

A social worker trainee (SWT) is graduate social worker student seeking licensure as a professional social worker. Social Worker Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional social worker, but require much closer supervision during the training process.

Shanae Moss (pronouns: she/her) is a social worker trainee who works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her specialty interests include: interpersonal and family issues, crisis management, and substance use issues. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.
Shanae earned her bachelor’s degree in human development and family sciences at Kent State University, with a minor in psychology and a concentration in family life education. Her trainings in this area of concentration focused on working with families in crisis, getting them to a place where they are functional, and helping them build on strengths and resiliencies. Shanae is currently working on her master’s degree in social work at Cleveland State University. She plans to specialize in clinical social work and graduate in Spring of 2025.
Prior to pursuing her master’s degree in social work, Shanae has worked 7 years as a public service servant.
She has had the opportunity to provide educational support to college students, extend informational resources to communities seeking education, provide county-wide harm reduction tools and resources, advocate for marginalized and disadvantaged communities, and participate in policy and harm reduction committees. Currently, Shanae serves as an outreach specialist for Summit County Public Health and stands as the representative for Summit County’s Project DAWN (Deaths Avoided with Naloxone), a program created by the Ohio Department of Health in 2019 to prevent opioid overdose through education and support.
Shanae’s approach to counseling is support-focused because she believes that humans have the ability to flourish in unimaginable ways when they have an entire village behind them. She is known for her humor, dedication, and empathic nature.
Her strengths include: kindness, love of learning, adaptability, and the ability to see the uniqueness in every individual she connects with.
