
A marriage and family therapist trainee (MFTT) is a graduate counseling student seeking licensure as a professional marriage and family therapist. Marriage & Family Therapist Trainees have the same scope of practice as a professional counselor, but require much closer supervision during the training process.
Graig Hair (pronouns: he/him) is a marriage and family therapist trainee who works with couples and families. His specialty interests include: improving communication patterns, healing from infidelity, restoring emotional connection, navigating relational challenges, and supporting clients through life transitions such as premarital preparation and divorce. He draws from evidence-based approaches and adapts treatment interventions to meet the unique needs of each couple or family.
Graig completed his advanced education at Kent State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in psychology. He is currently a master’s student at The University of Akron to completing a degree in marriage and family therapy.
Prior to private practice, Graig worked with a diverse range of couples at the Individual and Family Counseling Center at The University of Akron.
There, he supported clients in navigating complex relational challenges, while strengthening their emotional bonds.
Graig’s approach to therapy is warm and collaborative. He strives to create a supportive space where couples and families feel empowered to grow, reconnect, and build healthier relationships. He believes that meaningful change happens through authentic, safe, and respectful connections grounded in vulnerability and mutual understanding. Known for his compassionate presence, Graig brings a thoughtful balance of empathy, humor, and gentle challenge to help clients explore patterns, deepen insight, and move toward lasting change.
His strengths include: kindness, genuineness, emotional intelligence, and providing a “down-to-earth” session.
