A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.

The second “C” (LPC“C”) denotes advanced clinical experience and knowledge as required by the state licensure board that allows for independent practice (meaning, without the need for supervision).

The “S” (LPCC-“S”) denotes advanced experience and knowledge in clinical supervision as required by the state licensure board that allows for supervision of LPCs and counselors-in-training.

Caitlin McDougle (pronouns: she/her) is an experienced licensed professional clinical counselor- supervisor who works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her specialty interests include: children, adoption, trauma, anxiety, and adjustment. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.

Caitlin completed her undergraduate education at Kent State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She then went on to earn her master’s degree in clinical counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary.

Before joining Wellness Grove, Caitlin worked for 10 years with a private foster care and adoption agency, finding permanency for the hardest-to-place children in Cuyahoga County, supervising the behavioral health work provided to youth in foster homes, and providing trauma-focused counseling to youth in need.

She has also worked as a community-based therapist throughout Summit County, working with youth to adults impacted by a plethora of mental health diagnoses from depression to PTSD.

In her work with clients, Caitlin focuses on strengths and skill-building to ensure that her clients can overcome whatever they are up against on any given day. She relies on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help her clients make connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in order to have success in their daily life.

Her strengths include: empathy, kindness, relatability, humor, and an ability to see the big picture.
