A licensed social worker (LSW) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in social work and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care under supervision.

Elizabeth Pruitt (pronouns: she/her) is an experienced licensed social worker who works with adolescents, adults, and families. Her specialty interests include: faith-based counseling, trauma, emotional abuse, and integrating mind and body health into her counseling practice. She utilizes evidence-based treatment approaches that are strengths-based and uniquely tailored to each client.

Elizabeth completed her undergraduate education at LaRoche University, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications. She then earned her master’s degree in social work from Cleveland State University.

Prior to private practice, Elizabeth worked with diverse clients at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, for the city of Rocky River, and in community mental health settings. Over the last three years, she has had many unique opportunities. Among these opportunities are serving veterans with complex mental health conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, working as a clinical therapist for children and adolescents who have experienced traumatic stress, facilitating an elder outreach program and a caregiver support group, and serving as a Christian counselor in private practice.

All of these experiences have contributed to her passion for helping others and her clinical approach.

Beyond her clinical work, Elizabeth is active in her Christian church, fulfilling her calling to serve others.

Elizabeth’s approach to counseling is focused on psychodynamic therapeutic approaches, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, and strength-based empowerment. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative process that promotes the well-being of each client and strives to create an environment for clients to feel heard, seen, and validated. In addition to being a non-judgmental, compassionate listener, she is also a collaborative strength-builder and problem-solver.

Her strengths include: kindness, meeting others where they are, empathy, social intelligence, and seeing the bigger picture.
