
A licensed professional counselor (LPC) is a mental health provider who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling and who has met all requirements set forth by the state licensure board to provide quality mental health care.
Michelle Wiley (pronouns: she/her) is a licensed professional counselor who works with children, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression, and is passionate about supporting clients through healing and growth. Michelle utilizes a behavioral and person-centered approach, providing evidence-based care that is thoughtfully tailored to each individual’s needs.
Michelle earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kent State University and her master’s degree in clinical rehabilitation counseling from Kent State University, along with a certificate in addictions counseling. Her graduate training included focused coursework and clinical experiences addressing mental health, substance use, and trauma-informed care. Michelle values ongoing professional development and is committed to continuing learning to enhance her clinical skills and effectiveness as a counselor.
Prior to private practice, Michelle worked in community mental health settings, serving clients with a wide range of diagnoses and life experiences.
She has approximately two and a half years of experience in mental health and addiction treatment, including work in intensive outpatient (IOP), moderate outpatient (MOP), and relapse prevention group settings. Her experience includes the use of EMDR, DBT and other trauma-focused therapies, and she continues to pursue advanced training to strengthen her clinical practice.
Michelle’s clinical approach is primarily behavioral, grounded in the belief that learned and observed behaviors play a central role in how individuals understand themselves and navigate the world. She helps clients explore how past experiences and trauma have shaped current patterns of behavior, thinking, feeling, and responding. Her work is collaborative and person-centered, emphasizing each client’s strengths while gently challenging clients and holding them accountable in ways that support insight, skill-building, and intentional change. Michelle strives to create a therapeutic environment that is supportive, respectful, and empowering.
