Larissa Haring (pronouns: she/her) is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor-Supervisor, Certified Prevention Consultant, and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant in Ohio. She specializes in working with children, families, and professionals through trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches including Triple P, Incredible Years, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and play therapy. Larissa’s clinical style is collaborative, culturally sensitive, and rooted in building authentic relationships that foster resilience, empowerment, and healing.
Larissa earned her master’s degree in clinical counseling from Malone University and her bachelor’s degree in education from Kent State University, where she focused on intervention for mild/moderate disabilities and early childhood development. Her academic background reflects a strong foundation in both mental health and educational support for diverse populations. She continues to pursue professional development through specialized training and certifications that enhance her clinical and leadership skills.
With over 20 years of experience in nonprofit community mental health, Larissa has worked in various roles supporting children and families across Northeast Ohio. Her professional journey began in early childhood education as a preschool teacher, which laid the foundation for her passion in child development and therapeutic engagement.
She has served as a National Trainer for Triple P America since 2023, mentoring professionals nationwide in evidence-based parenting strategies. Larissa is also a certified TF-CBT therapist, Youth Peer Supervisor, and Family Peer Support Supervisor. When working with young children, she believes in speaking their language—whether that means diving into conversations about dinosaurs, Paw Patrol, Bluey, superheroes, princesses, trucks, or whatever sparks their imagination and trust.
Larissa’s approach to counseling is relational, trauma-informed, and strength-based. She integrates structured parenting models, psychoeducation, play therapy, and developmentally appropriate strategies to support clients and professionals alike. She is passionate about making abstract emotional and behavioral concepts concrete and accessible, often using art, crafts, songs, movement, games, and imaginative play to help children and families connect, learn, and grow. Her sessions often include humor, creativity, and interactive learning to foster engagement and healing. She believes in tailoring treatment to each client’s unique strengths, needs, and cultural context—because no two families are alike, and sometimes the best therapy starts with a good laugh and a shared love of cartoon characters.
Her strengths include empathy, leadership, creativity, strategic thinking, and a deep commitment to family and community wellness. As a mother of six in a beautifully blended family, Larissa brings lived experience to her work, navigating the joys and chaos of parenting, the elusive art of work-life balance, and the never-ending quest for personal growth. She believes that healing and growth are possible for everyone, even if it sometimes requires coffee, patience, and a spontaneous trip to Disney.
