Miranda Bowman (pronouns: she/her) is an experienced licensed social worker and licensed professional counselor who works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her specialty interests include: girls’ and women’s issues, stress management, career development, life transitions, intimate partner violence, substance use issues, and integrating problem-solving and task-centered models into counseling practice. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.
Miranda completed her advanced education at Walsh University, earning a dual bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology, and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. She also completed a master’s degree in social work at The University of Akron. Miranda took specialized coursework in marriage and family studies, relational problems, and intimate partner violence. She enjoys micro social work practices (to include interacting directly with clients as a clinical social worker), as well as mezzo social work practices (such as developing and implementing social service projects in the community). Miranda is passionate about expanding her knowledge to advocate for her clients.
Prior to private practice, Miranda worked with diverse clients in college, community mental health, and child welfare settings. She has experience facilitating substance use and mental health groups. Miranda has exposure to crisis intervention and assisting in caring for individuals in the inpatient setting. She has also worked in outpatient settings and provided individual counseling to children and adults.
Miranda can help clients move problems into goals. She offers a solution focused and rational approach to assist clients in conquering dilemmas. She utilizes task-centered and problem-solving models, as well as reality and cognitive behavioral therapeutic approaches. She believes in empowering her clients through understanding the intricacies of thought processing and decision-making. She values establishing a genuine therapeutic connection with the client that facilitates a safe space for personal growth. She is known for using psychoeducation, reflection, and problem-solving techniques in sessions.
